Maple Leaf

Attached dwelling unit. (ADU) for existing home.
From an existing unfinished garage of a residence to a finished two bedroom one and half bathroom apartment.
The design was conceived to bring in natural light to each bedroom and social area as well as taking advantage of the existing structural element locations to create specific programatic areas that were needed.
The playful design allows the basement condition to become a more welcoming experience while accentuating the use of each area.
The driver for layout configuration in the Maple Leaf project was getting enough natural light in.
The natural conditions of the existing basement were taken into account, taking advantage of the existing lower grade to locate main spaces in that area which allowed for as many windows as possible.
